As a dog-centric company we believe, and operate, as if every day is National Dog Day. Our canine companions bring so much joy, comfort, and unconditional love into our lives and we really do think about them daily (if not hourly!), whether we are working on creating our software or simply enjoying time with our best friends.
So when it comes to celebrating, it’s only fitting that we honor and uplift our pups not just on August 26th, but all year round. As we approach the official National Dog Day, however, we are taking a little extra time to reflect on the incredible impact they have on our lives and society as a whole.
For thousands of years, dogs have been our loyal companions and helpers, evolving alongside humans and offering us unconditional love and friendship whilst performing all kinds of tasks and skills for us. From working dogs that assist in herding and search-and-rescue operations to therapy dogs who provide emotional support, these amazing animals enrich our lives in countless ways.
The canine ability to understand and respond to human emotions is truly remarkable, making them much more than just pets. In fact, a recent Pew Research Center poll found that 97% of U.S. pet owners consider their pets to be part of the family. At Porter Labs they are 100% part of our family, community, and team. If it weren’t for Porter, and the many pups that we know and love, our business wouldn’t even exist!
Needless to say, our mission is rooted in a deep love for dogs and a firm belief that every pet deserves the chance to thrive. We know that when they succeed, so do we. That’s why we’re dedicated to creating technology that helps every dog owner unlock the full potential of their best friend, while also supporting shelters and rescues by increasing adoption rates, reducing surrenders, and preventing non-live outcomes for as many dogs as possible.
National Dog Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to support animal welfare organizations. With hundreds of thousands of dogs euthanized in shelters every year in the United States and around the world, it’s crucial that we take action to improve training and adoption outcomes in a scalable way. Our goal at Porter Labs is to provide a solution that helps as many dogs find their highest purpose as possible.
While we are working to achieve this goal there are many ways we can make a difference in the lives of dogs in need today. Whether through adoption, fostering, volunteering, donating, or by simply giving some extra love, care, and engagement to the dogs in your life, we hope you take the time to enjoy a happy National Dog Day!
